Some interesting things happening this month. I'm planning on a big adventure, which will be outlined in more depth in the future, but for now this means that I'm gathering equipment that I'll need for it.
I've got a few days free until my next project, so I'm focusing on adding more content to the site and marketing the business. Being a freelancer requires the discipline to both produce consistently great work and still ensure that the work will come in next month. This means regular site updates, and this time I have a lot of catching up to do.
So today I'm updating the BASF and Interior pages with some nice recent shots. Over the next few days I'll add some more.
Recently I purchased some Mamiya prime lenses to add to my collection. These have adapted well to the Canon EOS cameras that I use, and add an extra edge of sharpness and clarity that even my Canon L zoom lenses cannot offer.
I can't use them on every shot, but for fixed setups like the images in this post they offer superb results and I'm absolutely delighted with them.
Mastering the Master Collection

The upgrade for the Adobe Master Collection CS5 arrived today and I'll be spending some time getting to know the new facilities of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. Some of the new Photoshop features are very exciting and will help me achieve even better retouch results.
I'm also moving over to Adobe Premiere and After Effects as the key video editor, although I'll keep Vegas on the workstation for legacy jobs. All in all it's going to be a fun few days.
A Little Before and After

As part of the Mauritius stock library project in Q1 2010 I also had the pleasure of spending several days touring around the island picking up shots of the locals and tourists enjoying the life of this island paradise.
Sometimes you look at a shot and you just know that it has the potential to be something very exciting. Back in Singapore I took the shot of this Mauritian football player and turned it into a colourful sunset shot in only five steps.
As part of Pi2, I've had video edit and shoot facilties for several years. Normally the work I have done has been re-edits for local TV commercials and some corporate message video work. But since buying the EOS 5D MKII I've been jumping headlong in the world of high quality HD photography. Finally I can do video that looks like I want it too.
So as a test of the camera I put together this little chess movie, based on a very famous game that took place in 1750. Like most simple projects it grew until I eventually composed and produced a new original soundtrack for it. My eldest son, MIchael, helped move the pieces around.
